Why do you need a washout period from an ace-inhibitor when starting entresto?

any help will do

Entresto cannot be combined with an ACE inhibitor, and a 36-hour washout period is required between these 2 therapies to minimize the potential for life-threatening angioedema. This represents a huge opportunity for pharmacists to intervene and help prevent a potentially catastrophic medication error.

Actually Entresto is a mixture of a neprilysin inhibitor and an angiotensin receptor blocker, known as ARB. It is basically use to decrease the risk of cardiovascular failure and the rate of hospitalization in patients with chronic heart attacks. After switching from an ACE inhibitor, patients must wait 36 hours before starting sacubitril / valsartan. Hence, Sacubitri l/ valsartan delivers a slight transience benefit and decreases heart attacks related hospitalizations over and above an ACE inhibitor.
